About the role
Responsibilities
Work directly with customers to understand their problems and translate those into features in Scale’s platform
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and execute the vision for backend solutions for government agencies in secure environments
Implement end-to-end data integrations, syncing customer data to Scale’s platform and back
Deploy and maintain Scale software at customer sites
Develop customer-requested features and work closely with them to ensure customer satisfaction
Build robust and reliable backend systems that can serve as standalone products
Participate actively in customer engagements, working closely with stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver innovative solutions
Be open to >50% travel or relocation to a key customer geographic location
Requirements
Active TS/SCI security clearance or the ability to obtain one
Track record of success as a hybrid customer-facing engineer or forward deployed software engineer
Prior experience developing with Python and JavaScript or other modern software languages
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and experience deploying applications in cloud-native environments
Understanding of containerization (Docker) and container orchestration (Kubernetes)
Linux experience including shell scripting and operating systems
Networking experience including ports, protocols, and configuration
Knowledge of ETL processes and experience building data pipelines to integrate diverse data sources
Understanding of data modeling, data warehousing, and data governance principles
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Experience working in secure government environments
Implement Ramp's procurement platform for mid-market customers, partnering with CFOs and finance teams to map workflows, configure the system, manage change, and provide product feedback to engineering. Requires deep procure-to-pay expertise from platforms like Coupa or in-house purchasing roles.
