Staff Software Engineer

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain internet-scale, highly distributed systems and scalable services for the HRIS team.
- Actively code and participate in code reviews using Python, Golang, and Java.
- Provide technical leadership, establish engineering best practices, and drive adoption of advanced technologies.
- Mentor engineers across the organization and foster technical excellence.
- Architect systems capable of handling millions of simultaneous users with high performance, reliability, and scalability.
- Design and implement clean, modular abstraction APIs and programmatic APIs, including Backend for Frontend (BFF) systems.
- Design and implement analytical and transactional storage solutions at petabyte scale.
- Develop highly available and reliable systems targeting 99.99% or 99.999% uptime.
- Implement monitoring, logging, and tracing to ensure system health and performance.
- Build and integrate streaming solutions and workflow systems for transactional and analytical workflows.
- Collaborate with product management, data science, operations, and other cross-functional teams.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement.
- Maintain documentation and standards for architecture, design, and operational processes.
Requirements
- 12+ years of software engineering experience, with significant experience building large-scale distributed systems and scalable services.
- Proficiency in Python, Golang, and Java.
- Deep understanding of distributed computing, data architecture, and scalable system design.
- Demonstrated technical leadership and experience mentoring engineering teams.
- Experience building systems that handle millions of users in parallel.
- Strong understanding of SLAs, system resiliency, and observability.
- Expertise designing clean, modularized abstraction and programmatic APIs, including BFF systems.
- Experience with analytical storage systems such as Presto, S3, and Snowflake.
- Experience with transactional storage systems such as MySQL, Aurora, and MongoDB.
- Experience with public cloud platforms and streaming technologies.
- Understanding of transactional and analytical workflow systems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical concepts.
