About the role

Responsibilities

  • Build the "CNBC of Main Street": Develop and execute a content strategy that positions Workwhile as the primary source for labor market intelligence. Publish "breaking news" on the state of the hourly workforce.
  • Be the mouthpiece for Workwhile Econ Lab: Serve as editor-in-chief, work with data science team to extract trends (e.g., real-time wage inflation in logistics, impact of gig work on holiday supply chains) and package into reports for top-tier media.
  • Manage Academic Relations: Leverage relationships with labor professors and economists to facilitate op-eds.
  • Humanize the Data: Find and tell individual worker stories to connect reporters with real voices in the economy.
  • Newsjacking & Rapid Response: Monitor news cycle and pitch unique angles or data points for coverage.

Requirements

  • Self-Starter with Hustle: Identify trends and connect dots immediately without waiting for briefs.
  • Storyteller at Heart: Translate complex economic concepts into punchy, mainstream headlines.
  • Media Savvy: Existing relationships with business/tech reporters (or ability to build them); understand media needs; build relationships with major social media influencers.
  • Data Fluency: Data-literate, able to ask right questions to find story hooks.
  • Ambition: View role as stepping stone to Chief Communications Officer or industry voice.
