About the role
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate commercial agreements including API licensing, enterprise SaaS, model access and deployment, partnerships, vendor agreements, and NDAs
- Support US and EU commercial transactions, primarily US deals, and advise on German corporate law
- Partner with GTM, Marketing, FDE, Infrastructure, and Finance teams to provide legal guidance
- Advise on AI-specific legal considerations: IP ownership/licensing, training data rights, generative AI regulations
- Develop scalable legal frameworks, contract templates, playbooks, and approval workflows
- Engage and manage outside counsel on complex matters
- Contribute to compliance and legal operations initiatives
Requirements
- 7+ years legal experience in commercial transactions in technology sector (in-house and/or law firm)
- Experience negotiating complex technology agreements: software licensing, API/platform deals, data/content agreements, partnerships
- Experience with US and EU commercial deals and cross-border transactions
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
- Low ego, high accountability
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with AI/ML, developer platforms, or foundational model licensing
- Exposure to generative AI products
- JD from accredited law school and active US bar membership (UK/EU qualification preferred)
- Familiarity with German corporate law, EU AI Act, GDPR, AI/data regulations
- Background in IP, copyright, or data licensing for AI training/model development
Compensation
Base Annual Salary: $200,000-$275,000 + Equity
