Senior Software Engineer, Nexus SDK
Build and evolve Nexus interfaces and runtime behavior across Temporal’s polyglot SDKs, enabling durable, deterministic workflow execution. The role requires 7+ years building scalable distributed systems, advanced concurrent programming skills, and deep expertise in at least two supported languages.

Responsibilities
- Own new features end to end, collaborating with Nexus and open-source teams to deliver reliability and a strong developer experience.
- Design and build Nexus interfaces for Temporal SDKs across multiple programming languages.
- Integrate Temporal SDKs with their respective languages, using type systems and language runtimes to execute application code durably and deterministically.
- Develop foundations for reliable execution of agentic AI systems, including durable execution patterns, asynchronous processing, and workflow invocation through industry-standard protocols.
- Debug issues requiring expert attention in collaboration with the developer community and incorporate feedback into SDK features and APIs.
- Write publicly readable technical documentation for Temporal concepts and APIs.
- Travel to meet coworkers for approximately one week once or twice per year.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of production experience arranging and/or building or enhancing highly scalable distributed systems.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including distributed systems, multithreading, and concurrency.
- Production experience writing concurrent code in languages such as Go, Java, Python, TypeScript, or .NET at an advanced level.
- Experience designing APIs, building SDK libraries, or working with open-source systems.
- Deep expertise in at least two of Python, TypeScript, .NET, Ruby, and Rust.
