Responsibilities
- Build and evolve compensation programs that support OpenAI’s growing GTM organization.
- Serve as a trusted compensation advisor to GTM leaders, HR Business Partners, Recruiting, and Finance.
- Lead compensation analysis and approval for offers, balancing market context, internal consistency, and OpenAI’s compensation philosophy.
- Own benchmarking and market analysis for GTM roles, translating insights into clear recommendations and scalable practices.
- Partner on the design and optimization of sales compensation programs, job architecture, and related compensation frameworks.
- Develop approaches that can flex with changing business priorities, organizational growth, and new talent needs.
- Move fluidly between strategic design and hands-on execution, including building processes and operating mechanisms where they do not yet exist.
- Collaborate with the broader Compensation team to share insights and strengthen company-wide programs.
Requirements
- 6+ years of compensation experience, including meaningful depth supporting GTM or commercial organizations.
- Strong expertise in sales compensation, GTM benchmarking, and compensation program design.
- Experience building or materially evolving compensation programs in a fast-growing, dynamic organization.
- Builder mindset: energized by ambiguity and comfortable creating structure as the business evolves.
- Strong analytical judgment and the ability to translate complex data into practical recommendations.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build trust with senior stakeholders and cross-functional partners.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating closely with a broader team.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with job architecture is strongly preferred.
