Senior Software Engineer, Identity & Access Management
The Senior Software Engineer will build and lead backend-focused identity and access management systems for MongoDB Atlas, covering authentication and authorization platforms. The role requires at least five years of software engineering experience, proficiency in a compiled language, and strong collaboration and mentoring skills.

Responsibilities
- Design, architect, build, and deliver core components of identity and access management systems.
- Lead projects from specification through delivery.
- Mentor and develop other team members.
- Improve the codebase, engineering practices, and design principles.
- Define priorities, communicate them, and execute against them.
- Lead and contribute to complex technical projects and initiatives.
Requirements
- 5+ years of software engineering experience, primarily focused on backend systems.
- Proficiency in a modern compiled programming language such as Java, Go, C#, or C++.
- Willingness to learn JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend technologies such as React and Redux.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative approach and desire to mentor fellow engineers.
- Curiosity, empathy, intellectual honesty, and passion for problem-solving and continued learning.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building identity and access management systems, including authentication technologies such as OAuth and SSO.
- Experience with authorization models such as RBAC, ABAC, or ReBAC.
- Experience with login and registration systems.
Compensation and Benefits
- U.S. base salary range: $126,000–$248,000 USD.
