Responsibilities
- Design, build, and optimize tools at the intersection of relational databases and flexible-schema databases to enhance MongoDB’s SQL experience.
- Develop features for the MongoDB SQL Interface, including query, analytics, and visualization workflows.
- Monitor and improve performance, scalability, and reliability for large datasets and complex queries.
- Collaborate with product managers and customer experience teams to evaluate user needs and deliver intuitive customer experiences.
- Stay current with database and cloud industry trends and bring innovative ideas to the team.
- Advocate for technical excellence while balancing feature delivery and system quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with emphasis on backend systems and database technologies.
- Proficiency in at least one compiled programming language and interest in Rust, Java, and Go.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and software design and architecture.
- Familiarity with SQL query execution, query optimization, and relational database systems.
- Ability to break down complex problems and deliver solutions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams.
Nice-to-haves
- Professional experience or an M.Sc./Ph.D. in database query engines.
- Familiarity with MongoDB or other non-relational databases.
Compensation
- U.S. base salary: $126,000–$248,000 USD.
