Senior Software Engineer, Atlas Search
This senior engineer will design and develop distributed infrastructure and features for Atlas Search, including semantic and vector search capabilities. The role requires 5+ years in data management or search systems, strong distributed-systems experience, and advanced Java development skills.

Responsibilities
- Lead complex projects across the MongoDB ecosystem, including development of a new Search deployment framework within the MongoDB managed cloud.
- Set project-level strategy, architect features, and lead projects to successful execution.
- Identify, design, and implement features that enhance reliability, performance, security, and efficiency.
- Perform code reviews and recommend improvements to software development processes.
- Mentor and develop team members through active guidance and leading by example.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data management or search systems, ideally with a strong distributed systems and infrastructure background.
- Experience developing and maintaining concurrent, stateful services.
- Ability to shape the technological direction of complex systems and lead initiatives collaboratively.
- Experience writing features, debugging, and optimizing multithreaded applications in Java.
- Familiarity with LLM-based development tools across the software development lifecycle.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with public cloud infrastructure, including hardware, capacity, and high availability.
Compensation and Benefits
- U.S. base salary range: $126,000–$248,000 USD.
