Responsibilities

  • Shape Substack’s global events strategy across flagship brand moments, intimate creator gatherings, partnerships, and sponsored events.
  • Lead the full event lifecycle from concept and promotion through on-site execution.
  • Translate brand and market narratives into compelling in-person experiences that drive cultural conversation and business impact.
  • Provide strategic guidance and operational support for market-specific partnership events.
  • Scale sponsored events, develop a revenue model, and lead Substack’s presence at industry events.
  • Own the global events budget, goals, measurement frameworks, and ROI tracking.
  • Build methodologies to demonstrate event impact and communicate results internally.
  • Coach and develop event producers domestically and internationally.
  • Design scalable events for strategic audiences and territories while preserving impact and authenticity.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, agencies, and vendors while maintaining fiscal discipline and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in experiential event marketing and production.
  • At least 10 years in a senior role overseeing global or multifaceted events functions.
  • Experience building and scaling event strategies with measurable business impact.
  • Strategic vision combined with strong operational rigor, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Deep network of agencies and vendors across creative, production, and experiential disciplines.
  • Strong people leadership and team development skills.
  • Familiarity with Substack as a creator or subscriber and with the evolving technology and media landscape.
  • Entrepreneurial drive and comfort building in a startup environment.
  • Willingness and ability to travel globally for on-site execution.

Compensation

  • Salary range: $215,000–$260,00.
  • Compensation package includes salary, equity, and benefits.
