Senior Technical Customer Support Engineer, Federal

Provides technically deep support for U.S. federal customers operating ClickHouse in authorized, secure environments. The role requires senior technical support experience, knowledge of databases and distributed systems, and familiarity with federal compliance and cloud deployments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary technical support contact for U.S. federal and public-sector customers across cases, chat, Slack, meetings, email, and phone.
  • Triage and resolve technical support cases while providing professional responses, on-call coverage, and guidance within required SLAs.
  • Develop solutions for ClickHouse Cloud and ClickHouse open-source, and create customer-facing documentation, knowledge-base articles, and internal runbooks tailored to government deployment patterns.
  • Guide customers through deployment, configuration, and troubleshooting in government-authorized environments, including AWS GovCloud-adjacent infrastructure.
  • Partner with Support Services, Engineering, Security/Compliance, Product Management, and Go-To-Market teams to represent federal customer requirements and inform roadmap priorities.
  • Support technical aspects of federal proofs of concept, security questionnaires, and Authority to Operate (ATO)-adjacent evaluations.
  • Build trusted relationships with customers, government stakeholders, systems integrators, resellers, and internal teams.

Requirements

  • U.S. Person status.
  • Technical breadth and depth in ClickHouse Cloud, ClickHouse open-source, SQL databases, OLAP, cloud-native SaaS, or distributed systems.
  • Experience in a technical role such as Support Engineer, Consultant, Database Administrator, Site Reliability Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Software Engineer, or Systems Engineer.
  • Familiarity with federal IT operational and compliance environments, including FedRAMP, DOD IL, AWS GovCloud, air-gapped, or sovereign-cloud deployments.
  • Strong communication skills and sound judgment when handling sensitive data.
  • Team-oriented, empathetic, self-driven, curious, and able to solve complex problems under rigorous government requirements.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience supporting federal, state, local, or education customers in technical support, technical account management, or solutions engineering.
  • Experience with FedRAMP-authorized services, AWS GovCloud, Azure Government, or equivalent sovereign or air-gapped cloud environments.
  • Active or recently active U.S. government security clearance.
  • ClickHouse experience.
  • Experience with open-source technologies.
  • Experience with data pipelines such as Kafka, Kinesis, Spark, or RabbitMQ.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Typical starting salary in the United States: $139,000–$175,000 USD.
  • Typical starting salary in U.S. premium markets: $155,000–$194,000 USD.
