Responsibilities
- Define and own the payroll operating model, including whether payroll remains outsourced, moves in-house, or uses a hybrid approach.
- Lead the transition to the selected model, starting with Sweden and potentially scaling globally.
- Build a reliable, accurate, highly automated payroll operation.
- Own payroll accounting, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, general-ledger integration, and month-end close support.
- Automate recurring payroll processes and reduce manual work.
- Manage payroll and tax treatment for equity events, including option exercises, secondary transactions, clawbacks, and benefits in kind.
- Own payroll taxes and compliance, including employer contributions, PAYE, social security, year-end reporting, and record retention.
- Maintain payroll controls and an audit-ready trail; support external audits.
- Grow into responsibility for global payroll across all company entities.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of payroll experience.
- Expert, current, hands-on Swedish payroll knowledge, including Skatteverket employer reporting (AGI), employer contributions, expert tax/SINK, pensions, and benefits.
- Working knowledge of LAS and BFL.
- Proven end-to-end payroll ownership experience.
- Strong payroll accounting skills, including journals, accruals, reconciliations, and entity and cost-center coding.
- Experience with payroll compliance, controls, and audit readiness.
- Ability to work independently, make decisions in an initially standalone function, and operate comfortably in ambiguity.
- Excellent English communication skills.
- Based in Stockholm or willing to relocate.

- International or multi-entity payroll experience, particularly across the United Kingdom, United States, or EOR arrangements.
- Swedish language skills.
- Experience with equity or share-based compensation payroll and benefit-in-kind taxation.
- Strong interest in AI, automation, and modern payroll systems.
