Material Planning Manager

Responsibilities

• Lead, hire, mentor, coach, and develop the Material Planning team.
• Develop and execute material planning processes that support production while optimizing inventory and minimizing shortages.
• Manage inventory health, including safety stock, reorder points, excess inventory, obsolete materials, and inventory investment.
• Lead Clear To Build forums and monitor inventory performance.
• Partner with suppliers, Procurement, and Strategic Sourcing to identify constraints, mitigate supply risks, and develop recovery plans.
• Collaborate with Production Planning, Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, Quality, and Program Management.
• Coordinate material readiness for new product introductions and launches.
• Use ERP/MRP systems for material requirements, purchase recommendations, inventory planning, and supply planning.
• Track material availability, inventory turns, supplier delivery performance, inventory accuracy, shortages, and planning effectiveness.
• Drive continuous improvement through scalable planning processes, reporting, and standard work.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Industrial Engineering, Business, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in material planning, supply planning, inventory management, production planning, or supply chain operations in manufacturing.
• 3+ years of direct people management experience leading material planning, inventory planning, or supply chain teams.
• Experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP), inventory planning, supply planning, and replenishment strategies in a complex manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, NetSuite, or similar platforms.
• Strong analytical skills using Microsoft Excel and data visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
• Experience managing supplier risks and collaborating across Procurement, Manufacturing, Engineering, and Operations.
• Experience applying Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement, or operational excellence principles.

• Experience supporting high-growth, advanced, or rapidly scaling manufacturing operations.
• Experience with electrical systems, modular infrastructure, data center equipment, or other complex industrial products.

• Compensation range: $120,000–$145,000.
