Responsibilities
- Own delivery and technical direction for the Mortgage Verifications team as it scales its self-serve verification product.
- Drive team-level AI adoption with guardrails, baselines, and measured impact.
- Co-own product direction with the product manager by shaping problems and creating alignment.
- Lead platform modernization while shipping features in a highly regulated, high-stakes domain.
- Manage production incidents as technical and communications lead.
- Grow engineers’ careers, support promotions, and identify development paths.
- Hire senior and staff-level engineering talent.
- Represent team priorities and progress to product and executive stakeholders using data and sound methodology.
Requirements
- 4+ years of engineering management experience and 8+ years of engineering experience.
- Demonstrated experience rolling out AI adoption across an engineering team with measured baselines and guardrails.
- Quantitative fluency, including explaining metrics, methodologies, and baselines behind business-impact claims.
- Experience co-owning product direction and partnering productively with Product.
- Experience managing production incidents in systems at scale.
- Experience with regulated, high-stakes products where data accuracy and compliance matter, such as fintech, healthcare, or identity.
- Strong system design and architecture judgment.
- Track record of developing engineers and building inclusive, high-functioning teams.
- Comfort with ambiguity, feedback, and rapid change.
- Strong ownership, bias for action, resilience, and urgency.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary range: $233,000–$274,000 USD for San Francisco, CA.
