Responsibilities
- Design and implement highly scalable backend services, data pipelines, and integration endpoints that perform reliably at high volume.
- Gather product and engineering requirements, write design documents, and drive technical discussions with cross-functional stakeholders.
- Lead the full software development lifecycle, including requirements, architecture, solution design, development, quality assurance, and maintenance.
- Build systems with observability as a first-class concern, including monitoring, alerting, and dashboards.
- Mentor engineers and share best practices across the engineering organization.
- Communicate development progress to product leads, engineering managers, and other stakeholders.
- Introduce technologies and ideas as needed, including AI tools that accelerate individual and team workflows.
- Navigate ambiguity and proactively remove project roadblocks.
- Work effectively as part of a large global team.
- Give and receive technical and behavioral feedback.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of industry experience in backend development, including 1–2 years in senior positions.
- Experience developing large-scale, distributed web applications.
- Ability to write comprehensible, well-structured, and performant code.
- Experience with SQL or NoSQL database modeling.
- Experience using and designing RESTful services.
- Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented design.
- Experience using AI tools for code generation, debugging, and productivity optimization.
- Experience in a fast-scaling startup or high-velocity environment.
- Strong communication, problem-solving, listening, organization, planning, ownership, creativity, proactivity, and teamwork skills.
Nice to Have
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- Experience with GCP, Kubernetes, Docker, MongoDB, Redis, Ruby on Rails, microservices, or machine learning.
