Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate scalable backend services and APIs for the Experimentation product.
- Own backend components through discovery, design, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, incident response, and continuous improvement.
- Build systems for experiment setup, event data ingestion, metric computation, results processing, and results presentation.
- Contribute to architecture and technical proposals, balancing scalability, reliability, performance, cost, and maintainability.
- Partner with product managers, designers, data scientists, and engineering teams to deliver reliable technical solutions.
- Collaborate on shared data flows, services, and cross-team dependencies.
- Investigate production issues, identify root causes, and implement durable fixes.
- Improve observability, testing, deployment safety, operational processes, and system reliability.
- Participate in on-call rotation and own production systems.
- Support teammates through code reviews, design reviews, knowledge sharing, and mentorship.
Requirements
- 6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant experience building and operating backend services in production.
- Fluency using AI tools in software engineering workflows, including evaluating and validating AI-generated output.
- Experience delivering scalable, reliable, observable, and maintainable customer-facing systems.
- Strong programming experience in Go or a comparable backend language; the team uses Go.
- Experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, data pipelines, APIs, data modeling, or data-intensive services.
- Familiarity with analytical, operational, or warehouse data stores.
- Experience diagnosing production issues and improving reliability with observability practices.
- Experience with cloud environments and infrastructure-as-code or equivalent deployment tooling.
- Ability to take ambiguous problems through discovery, design, implementation, launch, and operation.
- Clear communication and a collaborative working style.
- Experience with experimentation, A/B testing, analytics, data platforms, or similar data-intensive products.
Compensation
- Zone 1: $191,800 - $263,670.
- Zone 2: $172,600 - $237,270.
- Zone 3: $163,000 - $224,070.
- Compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
