Responsibilities
- Architect and build a high-throughput, distributed platform serving as the source of truth for patient data.
- Re-engineer core backend data systems for scalability, resilience, and fault tolerance.
- Make zero-to-one architectural decisions and establish design patterns.
- Address distributed-systems challenges involving performance, uptime, and data integrity.
- Mentor engineers, review architectures, and act as a technical multiplier for the team.
- Establish operational rigor and drive sustainable improvements.
- Partner with product managers and cross-functional teams on engineering roadmaps and product vision.
Requirements
- 4+ years of related professional experience.
- Experience building distributed and event-driven systems.
- Experience developing microservices.
- Experience collaborating across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and frameworks, including the ability to maintain quality guardrails.
- Experience mentoring others, reviewing architectures, and establishing design patterns.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience.
- On-call experience and a track record of improving operations in customer-facing products.
- Experience in early-stage or high-growth startup environments.
- Experience building products with high reliability or accuracy requirements, such as healthcare, finance, or mission-critical systems.
- Node.js experience.
- Apache Kafka experience.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $166,000–$203,000 annually.
- Fully remote work for employees based in the United States; Hawaii is currently excluded.
