About the job

- Own delivery for the team's roadmap through planning, prioritization, and unblocking without adding heavyweight process.
- Partner with the CTO on organizational design, career ladders, and management practices as the engineering organization scales from 20 to 50+ engineers.
- Participate in architecture and design reviews across Rails, TypeScript/React, and Python systems.
- Build and run hiring loops, raise the hiring bar, and close strong engineering candidates.
- Identify and develop future technical leads and managers.

- Technical depth to participate in design reviews and collaborate effectively with senior engineers.
- A track record of managing skeptical teams through technical credibility and measurable outcomes.
- A bias toward lightweight, demonstrably useful processes.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience as a team's first manager or introducing management to a previously flat organization.
- Experience as a founder, founding engineer, or early employee.
- Experience growing individual contributors into managers and building a leadership bench.
