Responsibilities
- Report directly to the CEO to lead, mentor, and grow a multi-disciplinary engineering team of 12+ people.
- Collaborate with company leadership to align engineering initiatives with company goals and roadmap.
- Drive product design while architecting team structure and engineering processes from R&D through manufacturing.
- Represent engineering internally and externally to stakeholders.
- Establish and improve engineering management processes including performance reviews, planning, and organizational design.
- Set standards for excellence in development, testing, and documentation.
- Continuously learn industry best practices and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- 5+ years in an engineering leadership role.
- Oversaw multiple end-to-end development cycles and shipped complex electromechanical systems.
- Excellent verbal/written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Hands-on problem-solving while maintaining organizational perspective.
- Strongly opinionated but able to compromise.
- Balance speed and quality in a fast-paced startup.
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.
- Based in or relocate to SF Bay Area; 4-5 days/week onsite at San Leandro HQ; ~10% travel to solar sites.

Compensation
Annual base salary range: $180,000 - $300,000, plus comprehensive benefits and equity (depending on eligibility). Actual pay based on experience, skills, education, and training.
