Product Marketing Lead, API Models & Research
Leads product marketing strategy, positioning, launches, and adoption for an enterprise API and AI model portfolio. The role requires 12+ years of technical B2B product marketing experience, strong understanding of frontier AI and APIs, and the ability to align research, product, engineering, sales, and communications teams.

Responsibilities
- Own the business marketing strategy for OpenAI’s API and model portfolio, spanning frontier models, specialized domain models, and multimodal capabilities.
- Define launch architecture, positioning, priority audiences, demonstrations, and sustained adoption plans.
- Build relationships with Research, Product, and Engineering to understand model capabilities, evaluations, tradeoffs, and technical milestones.
- Help shape roadmap decisions, launch readiness, and go-to-market execution.
- Translate technical capabilities into business value, use cases, industry narratives, and enterprise adoption models.
- Partner with Sales, Solutions, Customer Success, Partnerships, and regional teams on customer narratives, enablement, proof points, and activation plans.
- Create feedback loops connecting customer and market needs with Product and Research priorities.
- Communicate complex research, APIs, evaluations, and engineering advances accurately without losing technical nuance.
- Partner with Communications, Safety, Policy, and Legal on precise, evidence-backed, responsible claims.
- Align cross-functional teams around priorities and decisions.
- Define and measure success across customer understanding, demand, progression, API usage, and business adoption.
Requirements
- 12+ years of product marketing experience, including senior ownership of complex B2B, enterprise, developer, platform, cloud, or AI products and portfolios.
- Deep understanding of frontier AI systems, model families, multimodal capabilities, evaluations, tradeoffs, APIs, and research or engineering advances.
- Experience developing positioning, audience strategies, launch plans, demonstrations, and sustained marketing programs for technical products.
- Experience partnering with Sales and customer-facing teams on go-to-market, enablement, use cases, and adoption programs.
- Exceptional strategic and editorial judgment translating complex technical capabilities into clear, differentiated, credible business narratives.
- Ability to align senior leaders across Research, Product, Engineering, Sales, Communications, and Marketing.
- Experience using customer insights, market signals, adoption data, and qualitative feedback to prioritize work and measure impact.
- Ability to move between long-range strategy and hands-on execution.
- Experience launching and driving adoption of frontier models, AI platforms, APIs, developer tools, or rapidly evolving technical products.

- Experience marketing specialized technologies in cybersecurity, life sciences, or other regulated domains.
- Experience bringing voice, image, video, or real-time multimodal capabilities to business or developer audiences.
- Experience navigating high-stakes technical claims with Safety, Policy, Legal, Security, or responsible-innovation teams.
- Thoughtful use of AI tools across research, positioning, prototyping, campaign development, and measurement.
