Staff Designer
Staff Designer owning end-to-end complex product surfaces for AI-native legal workflows at Eve. Requires meaningful experience with systems-heavy products, true ownership, and AI-native design practices using LLMs for prototyping and validation.
About the job
What you’ll do
- Own the full arc of design work: define the problem, shape the approach, push back when the framing can be better, and stay engaged through launch and iteration.
- Set the standard for craft and design quality on the team. Demonstrate what thoughtful, rigorous, AI-native product design looks like at Eve.
- Use AI throughout the entire design process, from clarifying intent or surfacing edge cases early (tools like Claude embedded at every stage).
- Prototype early and often using tools like Cursor or Claude Code to validate flows fast and partner with engineers.
- Establish and scale design practices across the org, including process and shared patterns.
- Design for complexity without making it visible: make AI-powered legal workflows feel simple and trustworthy for users across law firm roles.
Requirements
- Meaningful experience designing complex, systems-heavy products.
- True ownership: defined problems, not just solved them, and stayed engaged past handoff.
- AI-native workflow: actively use LLMs in design process; used AI tools to prototype interactions and validate behavior.
- Design systems fluency, including working within and improving imperfect/maturing systems.
- Opinionated and articulate: bring clear perspective on problems, defend design decisions, and update thinking based on new information.
- Collaborative mentor: invest in people around you, give feedback with care, and create space for others to grow.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience designing AI-generated or AI-augmented product experiences.
- Background in legal tech or other regulated, document-heavy domains.
- Experience building or contributing to a design system.
- Experience establishing design practices in a scaling team.
