Responsibilities
- Define and evolve Vanta’s visual design language across product surfaces.
- Set a high bar for typography, color, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, data visualization, and interaction details.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, Research, Content Design, and Brand teams on system-level solutions.
- Own foundational design system elements, including design tokens, component states, responsive behavior, theming, density, and platform adaptations.
- Create reusable patterns, guidance, documentation, examples, and enablement materials.
- Design and prototype system components and end-to-end product experiences.
- Collaborate with engineers to ensure fidelity, accessibility, performance, and maintainability.
- Establish design principles, standards, and review practices.
- Improve accessibility across color, contrast, typography, motion, and interaction states.
- Use customer insights, product data, usability feedback, and competitive research to improve the system.
- Facilitate critiques, workshops, and cross-functional reviews.
- Influence product strategy and roadmap decisions through design perspectives, narratives, and prototypes.
- Mentor product designers and contribute to design craft and critique culture.
- Define and measure design-system impact through adoption, consistency, accessibility, usability, delivery efficiency, and customer outcomes.
- Represent Design Systems in planning, product reviews, and cross-functional forums.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience designing digital products, including significant visual product design experience for complex B2B SaaS or enterprise software.
- Deep expertise in visual design, including typography, color, composition, layout, iconography, illustration, motion, interaction states, and data visualization.
- Portfolio demonstrating exceptional visual craft, systems thinking, and product-experience improvements at component and workflow levels.
- Experience creating, evolving, and scaling product design systems used by multiple teams.
- Strong understanding of design tokens, component architecture, responsive design, accessibility, and design-to-front-end implementation workflows.
- Experience translating ambiguous customer and product problems into clear, reusable visual solutions.
- Experience partnering with engineers and making pragmatic implementation decisions.
- Strong product thinking and understanding of customer needs, business goals, technical constraints, and connected product workflows.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, facilitation, and cross-functional influence skills.
- Ability to balance consistency and flexibility in design systems.
- Ability to give and receive feedback, mentor others, and raise quality standards.
- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and balancing strategic thinking with action.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.

- Willingness to use AI responsibly to improve efficiency and impact.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in cybersecurity, compliance, GRC, IT, infrastructure, financial services, or another complex and regulated domain.
- Experience with Figma and familiarity with front-end technologies or design system implementation workflows.
Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: $236,000–$278,000 annually.
