Senior Air Freight Manager
Leads Flexport’s regional air freight business in Taiwan, owning strategy, procurement, P&L, operational quality, pricing, product development, and team growth. Responsibilities
- Set and implement the regional air freight strategy.
- Set financial targets for volume, revenue, net revenue, gross profit, and related metrics in partnership with Sales, Finance, and regional Air leadership.
- Develop strategies and tactics to execute the Annual Operating Plan.
- Own the country P&L, including gross revenue, COGS, net revenue, and operating expenses.
- Drive growth through procurement, pricing, planning, and business development.
- Own regional operational metrics, including on-time performance, schedule quality, and productivity.
- Implement regional strategy, establish performance metrics, cascade objectives, and steer execution.
- Report progress against plan and promote visibility with executive leadership.
- Develop and execute the country procurement strategy across all trade lanes.
- Identify procurement opportunities and lead strategic negotiations.
- Establish vendor strategies for airlines, handlers, and truckers; create service-level agreements; and manage performance.
- Define the long-term approach for internal procurement versus third-party forwarding and maintain an implementation roadmap.
- Establish and maintain executive relationships with airlines based in the region.
- Monitor procurement costs against the market and drive competitiveness improvements.
- Develop regional air freight service capabilities and align product capabilities with market needs.
- Create new products and end-to-end solutions where service gaps persist.
- Lead operations and product quality, including on-time performance and schedule quality.
- Partner with product and engineering teams to identify gaps, define requirements, and shape the product roadmap.
- Define the target organization and recruit, develop, and manage a high-performing Air Management team.
- Establish team and individual objectives and manage engagement, performance, and growth.
- Lead the team through organizational transformations and reorganizations.
- Partner with Sales to develop go-to-market and pricing strategies.
- Provide market, operations, technology, and consultative sales expertise to grow the regional book of business.
- Formalize and disseminate market intelligence and sales collateral.
- Enable Demand teams to sell air products.
- Lead markup management and investment decisions for trade lanes, customer segments, and strategic accounts.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience at a freight forwarder, airline, or in logistics operations.
- Experience with procurement and airline relationships in the Taiwan market.
- Experience managing and motivating large, diverse teams and implementing large-scale organizational transformations.
- Strategic thinking combined with strong day-to-day execution.
- Deep expertise in freight forwarding markets and operations; leadership experience in freight forwarding operations is preferred.
- Ability to develop innovative vendor-relations structures grounded in numbers and metrics.
- Strong Excel skills.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Client-service mindset and strong attention to detail.
- Willingness to engage deeply with operational processes.
