About the role

Responsibilities

  • Own the entire accounting function across all entities (US, UK, India), including month-end close, consolidations, technical accounting (ASC 606, 842, 718), revenue, COGS, inventory, and internal controls.
  • Run and complete the external audit.
  • Manage tax, statutory, and specialist work.
  • Manage and grow the accounting team (initially a player-coach role with one accountant, scaling over 12-18 months).
  • Build an AI-first accounting function, leveraging automation and treating it as core to operations.
  • Select and implement an ERP system as the company scales beyond QuickBooks.
  • Ensure clean audits, on-time closes, and proactive risk flagging.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, or an Accounting Manager/Assistant Controller ready to step into a full controllership.
  • Independently owned a month-end close, handled real revenue recognition (ASC 606), and been through an audit.
  • Hardware experience: accounting for a company that ships physical product (inventory, COGS, hardware revenue, and bundling).
  • Strong technical accountant with hands-on experience in US GAAP, revenue recognition (ASC 606), consolidations; ideally leases (ASC 842), stock-based comp (ASC 718), and capitalized software.
  • Audit experience (internal or external).
  • Experience owning or heavily contributing to a multi-entity month-end close and consolidations.
  • Has been part of selecting and implementing an ERP.
  • Has built and managed a team.
  • AI-forward: already using automation and AI in accounting, with a point of view on modern accounting organizations.
  • Multi-entity or international experience (UK/India) and high-growth startup background preferred.
  • CPA preferred but not required; technical depth and audit experience are non-negotiable.
