Staff Software Engineer - Spend

Responsibilities
- Craft exceptional platform solutions that benefit multiple teams and create a seamless user experience.
- Be hands-on in technical architecture and liaise between product leadership, engineering leadership, and technical workstreams.
- Tackle complex engineering challenges and devise solutions that push technical boundaries.
- Own projects, make impactful decisions, and drive successful implementation.
- Lead and mentor engineers across Spend Management.
- Contribute to the development of Rippling’s Spend Management product.
Requirements
- 8+ years of professional software engineering experience.
- Strong background in backend development and distributed systems.
- Proven ability to design large-scale, fault-tolerant systems from scratch.
- Understanding of trade-offs between consistency and availability, including when eventual consistency is insufficient.
- High agency and ability to identify business problems, scope technical solutions, and execute independently.
- Intellectual curiosity and ability to learn complex domains such as treasury and money movement.
- Deep proficiency in a modern backend language such as Python, Go, or Java.
- Experience with complex data modeling using SQL or NoSQL databases.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
