Sales Compensation Specialist

Owns recurring sales compensation operations, including monthly close, quarterly commission calculations, plan modeling, dispute resolution, and attainment reporting across multiple SaaS sales plans. About the role

Responsibilities

  • Run quarterly commission calculations and statement production across Expansion, Emerging, ENT, MM, SMB, BDR, and hybrid plans.
  • Own the monthly close by locking the model, validating the accounting summary, and submitting it to Finance on a fixed calendar.
  • Lead clawback and addback reviews with Accounting, including the monthly outstanding-invoice pass.
  • Scale calculation automation to reduce manual rework as headcount grows.
  • Partner with Finance and the CRO on compensation-plan design, including accelerators, multipliers, SPIFFs, and net-revenue-retention metrics.
  • Resolve commission escalations and disputes directly with representatives.
  • Own attainment and quota reporting and identify employees who are off pace.

Requirements

  • Experience running a recurring, deadline-driven financial or compensation process.
  • Ability to build and maintain calculation models independently.
  • Ability to handle commission disputes calmly and fairly.
  • Experience with plan mechanics such as accelerators, multipliers, and SPIFFs, including modeling changes before launch.
  • Strong attention to exceptions, accuracy, and deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly take ownership of an existing live system without disrupting operations.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with Salesforce or another CRM used as the system of record for compensation data.
  • Familiarity with commission-calculation or incentive-compensation-management tools such as Xactly, CaptivateIQ, Spiff, Google Sheets, or Apps Script.
  • Background in B2B SaaS with multiple concurrent plan types, including AE, BDR, and CSM plans.
