Head of Finance Operations

Responsibilities

Lead and Grow the Bengaluru Finance Operations Organisation

• Own the full people leadership of the finance operations organisation, managing 4–6 team leads and managers across Accounts Payable, Travel & Expense, Payroll, Monetisation Operations, and Controllership, with a combined organisation of 60–100+ employees.
• Set performance standards, develop managers, build a culture of ownership and precision, and retain high-performing employees.

Translate Global Strategy into Bengaluru Execution

• Translate global Finance Operations strategy into operating plans and company objectives.
• Represent capacity, capabilities, constraints, and resourcing needs in global planning.

Drive Operational Excellence

• Own service metrics including accuracy, processing cycle times, SLA adherence, cost per transaction, and employee satisfaction.
• Audit processes, identify root causes, and drive structured remediation.
• Apply Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent continuous-improvement methodologies.
• Identify AI and automation opportunities and improve processes before automating them.

Build Scalable Infrastructure

• Design organisational models and operating cadences that support 2x–10x volume growth without proportional headcount growth.
• Define service catalogues, tiering, and SLAs with global Finance Operations leadership.
• Ensure finance systems, controls, and data-quality standards support public-company-ready infrastructure.

Steward Risk and Controllership

• Embed internal controls into Finance Operations processes.
• Partner with Accounting, SOX, and Internal Audit to maintain a strong controls environment.
• Identify control risks, escalate appropriately, and own remediation.
• Maintain compliance with regulatory, tax, and entity-specific reporting requirements for India-based legal entities.

Influence Stakeholders

• Partner with global Finance Operations leads, Accounting, Legal, HR, and Engineering.
• Communicate roadmaps, achievements, and blockers clearly using data.
• Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and cross-time-zone collaboration.

Requirements

• 18+ years of relevant experience in Finance Operations, Accounting Operations, Shared Services, or Business Finance, including meaningful experience in a GCC, captive, or SDC environment.
• Experience managing managers and leading teams of teams with 40+ total staff across multiple functional domains.
• Experience building and maturing Finance Operations organisations with measurable improvements in error rates, cycle times, or scalable volume.
• Deep expertise in at least one of Accounts Payable, Payroll, Travel & Expense, Accounts Receivable/Billing, Monetisation/Revenue Operations, or Corporate Controllership.
• Hands-on experience with Lean, Six Sigma, or formal process redesign.
• Track record of driving AI and automation adoption within Finance Operations or Shared Services.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including presenting to senior leadership.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience at a high-growth technology company or fintech.
• Familiarity with Oracle Fusion, Workday, Anaplan, or equivalent enterprise finance systems.
• Experience leading distributed teams across multiple time zones with US or global counterparts.
• Working knowledge of India-specific requirements including TDS, GST, FEMA, and labour law as they relate to Finance Operations.
