Senior Tax Accountant

The Sr. Tax Accountant will manage U.S. federal and state corporate income tax compliance, ASC 740 provisions, tax audits, reconciliations, and SOX controls for a high-growth SaaS business. The role requires five years of corporate tax experience, strong Excel skills, and a bachelor's degree.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review, and timely file U.S. federal and state corporate income tax returns, estimated payments, and extensions.
  • Prepare or review quarterly and annual ASC 740 income tax provisions, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate reconciliations, disclosures, and supporting workpapers.
  • Research federal and state tax law, apportionment methodologies, and income tax nexus standards; document audit-ready conclusions.
  • Support federal and state income tax audits by managing information document requests and defending established tax positions.
  • Execute SOX controls over the income tax close process and prepare or review tax account reconciliations in NetSuite.
  • Partner with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and Legal on tax and control impacts of new entities, intercompany transactions, and transfer pricing arrangements.
  • Collaborate with external preparers, advisors, auditors, and tax authorities.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to automate tax processes and improve analysis.

Requirements

  • 5 years of progressive experience in direct or corporate income tax, including U.S. federal and state taxation.
  • Working knowledge of ASC 740 and U.S. federal and state corporate income tax fundamentals.
  • Experience operating in a SOX-controlled environment, including designing, executing, documenting, and testing income tax controls.
  • Familiarity with tax issues affecting fast-growing, multi-state SaaS companies, including apportionment and evolving state income tax rules.
  • Familiarity with ERP and financial data systems such as NetSuite, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and data manipulation.
  • Strong analytical, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Public accounting and corporate tax experience.
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters ONESOURCE or Corptax.
  • Familiarity with Power BI, Alteryx, or similar data and dashboard tools.
  • CPA designation or Master of Taxation degree.
  • Experience automating tax processes and analyzing high-volume transactional data.
