Senior Software Engineer - Authentication
Build and operate secure, low-latency backend services and APIs powering cloud-based authentication, identity verification, and fraud prevention. The role requires 5–7+ years of backend development experience, strong Go or Python skills, cloud-native expertise, and production ownership.

Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and monitor high-performance backend services and APIs using Go and Python, focusing on secure, low-latency authentication and identity workflows.
- Build and maintain cloud-native services across AWS and Google Cloud, including Amazon S3, DynamoDB, Kinesis, and IAM.
- Develop data pipelines that feed downstream machine learning and risk models used in authentication decisions.
- Deliver features through the full software development lifecycle, including automated testing, deployment, operational support, CI/CD, and infrastructure as code.
- Solve complex engineering problems in authentication, identity, and fraud prevention through architecture decisions and threat-aware design.
- Integrate AI/ML capabilities such as model-backed risk scores, deepfake detection signals, and ML-driven policies into scalable, observable services.
- Use metrics, logging, tracing, and dashboards to troubleshoot production issues and improve reliability and latency.
- Collaborate with engineering, test engineering, research, product, Protect, Passport, and Core teams.
- Participate in the on-call rotation and provide after-hours support for the customer-facing authentication platform.
- Contribute to documentation, runbooks, and design reviews.
Requirements
- 5–7+ years of professional software development experience building backend services and APIs.
- Strong experience with Go, Python, or similar languages.
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, concurrency, and Linux-based development.
- Hands-on experience designing and operating cloud-native systems in AWS or Google Cloud.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps, Docker, Kubernetes, and production ownership, including deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and live-service support.
- Strong communication, cross-functional collaboration, ownership, judgment, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.
- Commitment to mentorship through code reviews, pairing, and day-to-day collaboration.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Redis, MySQL, RabbitMQ, or Elasticsearch.
- Experience in authentication, identity, fraud prevention, or other security-sensitive product environments.
- Experience with observability tooling and production diagnostics across metrics, logging, and tracing.
- Exposure to UI work or adjacent product experiences connecting backend systems to customer-facing workflows.
