About the role

What You'll Do

  • Develop and maintain internal backend frameworks and libraries (API routing, service lifecycle, caching, messaging, error handling)
  • Create APIs, service templates, and versioned interfaces for consistent patterns
  • Introduce modern patterns like asyncio and streaming data processing
  • Design abstractions for authorization, streaming, data governance, event processing
  • Embed reliability and observability (tracing, metrics, automated tests)
  • Collaborate with Model Infrastructure on GenAI challenges (model inference, streaming APIs, retrieval)
  • Integrate with Developer Experience and Infrastructure teams (CI/CD, deployment)
  • Gather feedback from product teams and evangelize best practices

What You Have

  • 7+ years software engineering experience (post-BS/MS), building scalable backend systems or internal platforms
  • Proficiency in Python and backend fundamentals (APIs, data stores, concurrency, distributed systems)
  • Experience with web frameworks (Flask/FastAPI), service architectures, clean APIs
  • Familiarity with caching (Redis), messaging (Kafka), databases (SQL/NoSQL, Vector DBs)
  • Track record of high-quality, tested code (unit/integration testing, static typing, CI)
  • Strong problem-solving, passion for developer experience
  • Excellent collaboration and communication
  • Experience with internal libraries/frameworks (plus)
