About the role

Responsibilities

  • Lead early review of potential renewable tax credit transactions and assess completeness of underwriting package.
  • Collaborate with project developers to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Oversee production and evaluation of diligence memorandums for clean energy tax credits, ensuring compliance with regulations including eligibility criteria, prevailing wage & apprenticeship requirements.
  • Maintain extensive knowledge of transaction structuring, clean energy tax credit rules and regulations to inform underwriting decisions.
  • Formulate standard, comprehensive underwriting policies by credit type.
  • Develop and lead initiatives to improve underwriting process, leveraging technology and tools in collaboration with product engineering, legal, marketing.
  • Analyze financial, technical, and legal documents and project feasibility to determine credit eligibility.
  • Review tax credit insurance policies for adequate risk mitigation.
  • Conduct risk assessments to identify potential issues with credit claims.
  • Prepare detailed reports and recommendations for approval or denial of credits.
  • Contribute to long-term client relationships with tax and finance leaders at largest F250 tax credit buyers.
  • Build net new relationships through conferences, networking, outreach, partnerships, and inbound.
  • Act as trusted market expert via webinars, panels at conferences.

Requirements

  • 8-12+ years of experience in financial services, renewable energy, or comparable.
  • Renewable energy project finance, banking, or Big 4 background preferred.
  • Strong understanding of Inflation Reduction Act, IRS tax codes, renewable energy industry, underwriting, risk management.
  • Detailed knowledge of renewable energy project underwriting (equipment, performance review), U.S. energy markets, regulatory structures, power agreements, derivatives, renewables incentives.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational, time management, prioritization skills.
  • Well-developed analytical skills to simplify complex problems.
  • Effective listener and advanced communication skills (oral/written).
  • Project management experience; desire to build new initiatives, lead team.
  • Team-oriented, collaborative across commercial and technology teams.
  • Unrivaled relationship building skills.
  • Excited about rapid-growth environment with autonomy; willing to roll up sleeves.
  • Willing to travel 25%.
  • FINRA SIE, Series 79, and 63 required or willingness to obtain.

Compensation

  • Total cash compensation: $300,000s - $500,000s, depending on experience & revenue scope (not inclusive of equity).
  • Opportunity to exceed bonus targets based on team/individual performance.
  • Stock options.
