Principal Financial Analyst
Serves as the Finance Business Partner for Altana’s Technology organization, overseeing forecasting, cloud and AI spend, procurement, vendor management, and executive reporting. Requires 5–8+ years of technology FP&A or finance partnering experience, strong modeling skills, and a bachelor’s degree.

Responsibilities
- Own monthly budget forecasts, business metrics, and variance reporting for the Technology organization.
- Advise Technology leaders on investment decisions through driver-based modeling, headcount evaluation, and budget alignment analysis.
- Manage cloud infrastructure finances, including spend forecasting, resource tagging, cost attribution, and commitment discount strategies.
- Build financial frameworks for AI and LLM spending, including token-level unit economics, team and product cost attribution, and efficiency reporting.
- Translate cloud and AI infrastructure actuals into GAAP-compliant accounting entries in partnership with Accounting and Cloud Engineering.
- Lead Technology procurement and vendor management, including contract inventories, renewal calendars, cloud and SaaS negotiations, and SaaS rationalization.
- Build Board-level Technology scorecards covering headcount, cloud and AI spend, R&D as a percentage of revenue, and delivery indicators.
- Develop pod-based financial views for engineering ROI analysis and report engineering organization ratios.
- Prepare executive financial narratives for board presentations, investor materials, and quarterly business reviews.
Requirements
- 5–8+ years of progressive FP&A or finance business partnering experience at a high-growth technology or SaaS company.
- Direct experience supporting R&D, Engineering, or Product organizations.
- Strong financial modeling skills in Excel and at least one EPM or planning platform.
- Excellent communication, influencing, executive storytelling, and stakeholder management skills.
- Active use of AI tools for modeling, analysis, automation, or productivity.
- Familiarity with ERP, CRM, and HRIS or workforce planning tools.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience at an AI company.
- SQL proficiency for independently querying and analyzing data warehouse information.
- MBA.
Compensation and Benefits
- Annual base salary: $170,000–$200,000 USD.
