Principal, Clinical Strategy and Execution

Own the operating system for Headway’s clinical organization, including governance, OKRs, policies, risk management, and program execution. Requires an active clinical license, 7+ years in mental health settings, and strong operational, data-informed, and cross-functional leadership skills.

Responsibilities

  • Run clinical governance committee operations, including charters, membership, meeting cadence, agendas, pre-reads, minutes, decision logs, and action-item follow-through.
  • Own the clinical team's operating rhythm, including staff meetings, planning sessions, offsites, cross-functional forums, and internal communications.
  • Drive the clinical organization's OKR cycle from drafting and calibration through alignment, baseline and target setting, resourcing, check-ins, scoring, retrospectives, and source-of-truth maintenance.
  • Own the clinical policy lifecycle, including intake, drafting and revision, review and approval routing, version control, effective dates, re-review, enablement, distribution, attestation, training handoffs, and external-facing policy or regulatory work as directed.
  • Oversee clinical program execution through plans, milestones, dependencies, ownership, status reporting, escalation, cross-functional coordination, metrics, and outcomes.
  • Systematize clinical risk-register entries, including risk intake and triage, scoring, documentation, audit coordination, ownership, mitigations, and reporting.
  • Serve as the primary administrative interface between Clinical and Compliance, Operations, Legal, Product, Growth, and other departments.

Requirements

  • Active clinical license as a master's-level therapist (LCSW, LPC, or LMFT), doctorate-level clinical psychologist (PhD/PsyD), or psychiatric clinician (PMHNP-BC, MD/DO).
  • 7+ years of experience in mental health settings.
  • Experience with clinical governance and policy work, such as committee support, policy or protocol approvals, risk, accreditation, or audit processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to build durable systems, manage ambiguity and complexity, and anticipate issues.
  • Operational excellence and experience managing concurrent initiatives to defined standards and timelines without formal authority.
  • Data-informed approach to setting baselines and targets and reporting progress quantitatively.
  • Strong collaboration and accountability skills with senior clinicians and cross-functional partners.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Base pay: $144,000-$280,000 annually, depending on qualifications, experience, and geographic location.
