Senior Legal Counsel, Safety, Content & Law Enforcement
Provides legal advice across the JAPAC region on user-data disclosures, content removal, online safety, law enforcement, and freedom-of-expression issues. Requires a qualifying law credential, admission in a JAPAC or U.S. jurisdiction, and at least six years of legal experience.

Responsibilities
- Advise teams responding to governmental and private-party demands for user data disclosure and content removal.
- Identify legal risks related to user-data requests, content-removal requests, online abuse prevention, and enforcement of platform rules.
- Collaborate with legal colleagues in other regions to align policies and operationalize legal requirements.
- Advise on policies ensuring compliance with legal obligations while honoring customer commitments.
- Review legislative proposals affecting content moderation and obligations to produce user data to law enforcement and government entities.
- Advise legal colleagues on law-enforcement, safety, and freedom-of-expression implications of product and design initiatives.
- Work cross-functionally with Legal, Safety, Global Government Affairs, and other teams.
Requirements
- J.D. equivalent.
- Qualified to practice law in at least one jurisdiction in the JAPAC region or the United States.
- At least 6 years of legal experience.
- Passion for user privacy, freedom of expression, and online safety.
- Ability to work effectively amid ambiguity, changing legal and policy landscapes, and limited precedent.
- Familiarity with internet-based communications technology, cloud services, and related legal issues.
- Strong judgment, creative problem-solving, and strategic thinking.
- Ability to work independently and cross-functionally with geographically diverse, multicultural teams.
- Ability to assess emerging situations and develop practical responses.
- Clear oral and written communication for legal and non-legal audiences.
- Excellent organization and prioritization skills.
