Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical strategy for Ingress Security with stakeholders across Server, Atlas, SRE, and Product Security.
- Own the definition, planning, and execution of technical plans for ambiguous, high-impact security and networking problems.
- Design, implement, and operate production-ready security services in Rust, emphasizing security, correctness, performance, and operational excellence.
- Collaborate with Engineering leadership and Product & Technology teams on roadmaps to improve MongoDB's ingress security posture.
- Advise the team and organization on engineering complexity, risk, and inter-project dependencies.
- Handle time-sensitive escalations and production incidents requiring expert Ingress Security support.
- Diagnose test failures, bugs, performance regressions, and other defects, and fix them.
- Interview software engineering candidates and help cultivate the team's talent bench.
- Maintain expertise in systems security, network security, and memory-safe systems programming research.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience building production-quality systems software with a large user base, robust design structure, and rigorous code quality.
- Experience with large backend or compiled codebases and performance-sensitive software, preferably in Rust.
- Strong systems fundamentals, including multithreaded programming and performance profiling.
- Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills.
- Strong mentorship, coaching, feedback, and enablement skills.
- Strong time management and project-complexity assessment skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Strong competencies in data structures, algorithms, and software design and architecture.
- Interest in high-availability, security-critical systems.
- Passion for learning in computer science and software engineering.
Nice-to-haves
- Hands-on experience in security-sensitive or networking-adjacent domains.
- Understanding of network protocols, TLS, and connection lifecycle management.
- Familiarity with attack-surface reduction, input validation, memory safety, and defense-in-depth architectures.
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid role for candidates based in Dublin or Cork.
