Product Manager leading Astra’s platform layer, including APIs, developer experience, control-plane capabilities, extensibility, and reliability products. The role requires 6+ years of product management experience, including 3+ years building technical developer-facing platform or API products.

Responsibilities
- Define and maintain the API contract philosophy, including versioning, backward compatibility, deprecation policies, and schema design.
- Write detailed, edge-case-aware platform specifications for engineering.
- Shape the platform roadmap across authentication, observability, extensibility, customer-facing features, and reliability.
- Conduct technical discovery with sophisticated customers to identify platform gaps and extensibility needs.
- Partner with engineering on API design, developer ergonomics, and platform quality.
- Translate customer implementation challenges and workarounds into platform requirements.
- Drive the developer experience roadmap with documentation, solutions engineering, and developer relations.
- Represent platform strategy in customer conversations, partnership discussions, and technical due diligence.
Requirements
- 6+ years of product management experience.
- At least 3 years building developer-facing platform or API products at a technical infrastructure company.
- Deep expertise in API design, REST, webhooks, and event-driven architecture.
- Experience owning platform roadmaps across authentication, configuration, extensibility, and observability.
- Ability to reason about systems tradeoffs such as latency versus consistency and configurability versus complexity.
- Principal-level individual contributor experience, including setting direction, influencing without authority, and driving cross-functional outcomes.
- Exceptional written communication and the ability to produce precise product and technical specifications.
- Willingness to travel up to approximately 15% annually.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience building platform products at a BaaS, payments infrastructure, or developer tools company.
- Familiarity with control plane and data plane architecture.
- Experience designing workflow or rules-engine products.
- Exposure to agentic AI use cases and AI-native payment infrastructure requirements.
- Payments industry knowledge.
