Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain TypeScript microservices for billing lifecycle management across self-serve and enterprise plans.
- Build integrations with payment processing, usage metering, and CRM platforms for contract and entitlement synchronization.
- Implement event-driven workflows using Kafka or similar platforms to process contract events, provision entitlements, and trigger billing state transitions.
- Design and maintain entitlement enforcement for plan-based product access across a multi-tenant platform.
- Own the provisioning pipeline mapping closed sales opportunities to live organization configurations.
- Collaborate with product managers, RevOps, and finance stakeholders to translate billing requirements into reliable, auditable system behavior.
- Build internal billing operations tooling, including admin interfaces for customer support and finance teams.
- Write clean, maintainable, well-tested code with unit, integration, and end-to-end tests.
- Participate in code reviews, design discussions, and architecture planning focused on correctness, idempotency, and operational resilience.
- Participate in an on-call rotation and own incident response for billing platform services.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to engineering rigor and operational accountability.
Requirements
- 5+ years of professional software engineering experience building backend services and distributed systems.
- Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js, with production microservices experience using frameworks such as NestJS.
- Deep experience with relational databases such as PostgreSQL, including schema design, query optimization, and transactional data modeling.
- Experience designing event-driven architectures with Kafka, SQS, or similar messaging platforms.
- Experience integrating third-party financial or billing platforms such as Stripe, Zuora, Chargebee, or usage-metering systems.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems concepts, including consistency, idempotency, eventual consistency, and failure recovery.
- Experience building microservices that consume and produce CRM events for automated provisioning or fulfillment workflows.
- Understanding of multi-tenant SaaS architecture and per-organization entitlement enforcement.
- Experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Strong computer science fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and tools such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
- Experience with GitHub, JIRA, Confluence, or similar collaboration tools.
- Experience working with globally distributed teams.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to debug complex data-consistency issues across distributed systems.

Compensation and Benefits
- ATS-listed salary range: 145000–165000 CAD annually.
