Engineering Manager - Database Change Management
Leads a distributed backend engineering team responsible for PostgreSQL health and a major database migration-system replacement. The role requires engineering management, production PostgreSQL and capacity-planning experience, async-first written communication, hiring and team-building capability, and experience managing long-horizon infrastructure programs.

Responsibilities
- Lead a distributed backend engineering team working asynchronously across time zones.
- Hire, onboard, and develop an India-based engineering cluster.
- Balance database health responsibilities with the multi-quarter replacement of the database migration system.
- Protect the replatforming program’s critical path while meeting operational commitments.
- Coach and develop backend engineers from intermediate through senior levels.
- Run the team using written decision records, visible priorities, and async-first management practices.
- Partner with Distribution, Quality Assurance, database framework teams, Database Architecture, Database Automation, and infrastructure leadership.
- Communicate team capacity, priorities, risks, and delivery status to senior engineering leadership.
Requirements
- Engineering management experience leading remote, distributed teams across multiple time zones.
- Production PostgreSQL experience, including capacity planning and technical depth in migration-system and reliability design discussions.
- Experience leading a long-horizon platform or infrastructure program alongside operational responsibilities.
- Hiring and team-building experience, including establishing a new team or site cluster.
- Strong written communication skills and experience using writing as a primary management tool.
- Experience coaching and developing backend engineers across multiple levels.
- Ability to set priorities, protect focus, maintain production health, and meet operational commitments.
- Experience collaborating with software engineering, quality, distribution, database, and infrastructure partners.
