Leads the Switchboard engineering team responsible for GitLab Dedicated’s customer-facing tenant management control panel and the operation of large-scale distributed services. The role combines technical strategy, operational excellence, product planning, hiring, and people management.

Responsibilities
- Lead the fullstack Switchboard team responsible for GitLab Dedicated’s customer-facing control panel.
- Set clear direction for product delivery and evolution in coordination with the Product Manager.
- Hire and develop a high-performing team.
- Partner with Technical Team Leads to provide direction, make decisions, and remove blockers.
- Collaborate with Product and Design on the customer-facing control panel, including wireframes and UI direction.
- Own planning with the Product Manager, including priorities, dependencies, and quarterly delivery epics.
- Drive cross-functional execution across frontend, backend, UX, product, and technical writing.
- Improve quality, security, and performance.
- Enable customers to manage tenant environments while reducing manual operations across the Dedicated fleet.
- Lead a team building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
- Drive operational excellence for highly available services.
- Use AI tooling to improve team productivity.
- Manage distributed and remote teams effectively.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and owning large-scale distributed services.
- Deep technical expertise sufficient to contribute to architecture and guide technical strategy.
- Experience owning services operating at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs.
- Experience building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures.
- Comfort managing out when necessary.
- Experience driving complex projects to completion without a dedicated TPM.
- Experience leading distributed and remote teams.
