Senior Developer Advocate, AI and Machine Learning
Builds Databricks AI and machine learning advocacy through production-ready demos, educational content, events, and community engagement. Responsibilities
- Build a consistent, recognized presence in the Bay Area AI community through user groups, meetups, events, and relationships with practitioners and founders.
- Own medium-to-large advocacy projects end-to-end for AI and agents.
- Create production-ready reference implementations, starter kits, and demos showing practitioners how to build, evaluate, and govern agents on Databricks.
- Create educational videos, sample notebooks, datasets, tutorials, courseware, and blog posts, reusing core assets across formats.
- Drive awareness and adoption of Databricks AI capabilities through industry events and conferences.
- Serve as a trusted advisor between the AI community and product teams, influencing roadmap discussions with community feedback.
- Expand and nurture AI and ML communities by growing meetups and user groups and supporting online practitioners.
- Gather and analyze community feedback to improve Databricks products and services.
- Mentor and unblock less-experienced advocates in content, demos, and public speaking.
Requirements
- 5+ years of combined experience as a developer advocate and in a hands-on technical role such as software engineer, ML engineer, data scientist, or solutions architect.
- Professional experience building and operating AI or ML systems.
- Subject matter expertise in solving AI and ML problems at scale, including agent design, evaluation, and production operations.
- Comprehensive understanding of the Databricks AI ecosystem, including Genie Agents, Genie, MLflow, and Databricks Unity AI Gateway.
- Strong Python skills and fluency with current agent and ML tooling.
- Based in the Bay Area and willing to participate in the community regularly, including evenings.
- Active participation and recognized leadership in AI and ML forums, chats, and meetups.
- Public portfolio of technical work, such as tutorials, talks, repositories, or sustained community contributions.
- Experience nurturing developer communities, organizing user groups, and facilitating meetups.
- Exceptional written, teaching, video, and public-speaking communication skills.
- Empathy for developer needs and ability to create engaging tutorials, notebooks, and community experiences.
- Ability to collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders and align community initiatives with product objectives.
Compensation
- Zone 1 pay range: $149,200–$205,150 USD.
- Total compensation may include an annual performance bonus, equity, and benefits.
