Senior Developer Relations Engineer

Responsibilities

• Build trusted relationships with security practitioners, researchers, maintainers, and open-source communities.
• Attend and speak at relevant cybersecurity conferences and meetups, and establish a baseline event presence.
• Support open-source projects and maintainers through technical office hours, upstream contributions, and ongoing relationship management.
• Turn research and releases into reusable advisories, co-authored write-ups, guidance, workshops, and hands-on sessions.
• Publish deep dives, tutorials, and technical write-ups under your own name.
• Identify conference and CFP opportunities, and help engineers prepare and deliver talks.
• Run published tools and research against unfamiliar code and provide feedback to engineering teams.
• Improve project onboarding, documentation, examples, integrations, skills, plugins, and first-run experiences.
• Attract external contributors and help them make repeat contributions.
• Share community feedback with the firm, including practitioner needs, research gaps, and emerging ecosystems.

Requirements

• Hands-on experience building software people use, such as a tool, library, integration, skill, or agent.
• Ability to read unfamiliar code, run security analyzers, and contribute pull requests that are accepted upstream.
• Typically seven or more years of deep, hands-on security experience.
• Practical experience with agentic tooling, including skills, agents, MCP servers, harnesses, or evaluations.
• A public body of work, such as talks, posts, upstream contributions, research, or documentation.
• Credibility within security and open-source communities.
• Strong technical writing and public-speaking skills.
• Ability to make and defend priorities independently in ambiguous situations.
• Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the year.

Nice to Have

• Meaningful experience maintaining or contributing to an open-source project.
• Depth in application security, blockchain and cryptography, AI/ML security, or low-level systems research.
• Experience running or programming a community venue at meaningful scale.
• Contributions to developer documentation maintained alongside and shipped with code.
• Involvement with open-source foundations, grant programs, or maintainer-facing initiatives.

Compensation and Benefits

• Base salary: $160,000–$200,000.
• Eligible for annual bonuses and benefits.
