Director of Product, Risk & Response

Leads product strategy and people management across underwriting, claims, and security, integrating risk-lifecycle feedback loops and model-driven workflows. The role requires 10+ years of product experience, multi-domain portfolio leadership, platform transformation expertise, and strong collaboration with Data and Engineering.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Set a unified product strategy across underwriting, claims, and security as one risk lifecycle, making investment trade-offs across the three domains.
  • Build, develop, hire, coach, and manage the product team across three technically deep domains.
  • Connect feedback loops between security telemetry, underwriting, claims development, pricing, and realized loss outcomes.
  • Own the product surface that enables scalable security adoption, including in-product activation, onboarding, value demonstration, and product-led growth from Control to paid Wirespeed customers.
  • Partner with Data and Engineering on model-driven workflows, automated decisioning, and ML-assisted tooling while managing operational and regulatory considerations.
  • Drive major platform evolution and migrations across the portfolio with engineering counterparts.
  • Define portfolio-wide success metrics and use quantitative and qualitative data to prioritize decisions and trade-offs.
  • Represent the portfolio to executive leadership, brokers, and cross-functional partners, translating technical work into business outcomes.
  • Use AI in product work and champion AI-enabled approaches to underwriting, claims, and security products.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of product experience, including several years leading and developing product managers.
  • Experience owning a multi-domain or platform portfolio and setting strategy across competing priorities.
  • Experience leading technically deep, model-driven, or data-heavy product areas and partnering with Data and Engineering on automation and decisioning.
  • Strong people leadership, including hiring, coaching, expectation-setting, and performance management.
  • Experience with major platform migrations or systems transformations involving critical internal or enterprise systems.
  • Exceptional communication and influence skills, with experience aligning senior stakeholders without formal authority.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and a build-oriented mindset.
  • Daily fluency with AI tools in product work and a perspective on AI's impact on underwriting, claims, and security.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Experience in insurance or other regulated financial products, including underwriting, pricing, claims, policy administration, or compliance-heavy workflows.
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity products, MDR/EDR, security operations, or incident response.
  • Experience shipping products based on predictive models, risk scores, or automated decisioning while managing operational and regulatory constraints.

Compensation and Benefits

  • US base salary range: $200,000-$260,000 per year.
  • Compensation varies based on factors including education, skills, qualifications, experience, credentials, and geographic location.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • Flexible paid time off.
  • Annual home office stipend and WeWork access.
  • Mental and physical health wellness programs.
  • Competitive compensation and advancement opportunities.
