Senior Payroll Accountant
Executes global payroll accounting, reconciliations, equity compensation accounting, variance analysis, and audit support. The role requires a bachelor's degree, 6–8 years of general accounting experience, at least 4 years in payroll accounting, and knowledge of US GAAP and cloud-based systems.

Responsibilities
- Prepare and record comprehensive payroll journal entries, including salaries, bonuses, commissions, stock-based compensation, benefits, and multi-state/international taxes.
- Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve variances or discrepancies within the close period.
- Perform monthly payroll flux analysis and investigate significant period-over-period movements.
- Prepare payroll accounting for equity compensation programs, including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP, ensuring accurate recording, tax withholding treatment, and reconciliation among equity, payroll, and the general ledger.
- Execute payroll accounting across global entities, including the Netherlands, Brazil, France, Germany, and India, while ensuring accurate accounting treatment and local compliance.
- Partner with Payroll Operations to research and resolve discrepancies between payroll registers and the general ledger.
- Support annual local statutory audits, consolidated external audits, and internal SOX requests.
- Maintain documented accounting policies, procedures, and SOPs.
- Partner with the Manager and cross-functional teams, including Legal and external advisors, to establish accounting processes and systems for new international subsidiaries and locations.
- Lead testing and implementation of updates to cloud-based payroll and accounting systems.
- Perform ad hoc financial analysis and drive process-improvement projects.
- Support AI and automation initiatives across payroll accounting, including reconciliation tooling and variance detection.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 6–8 years of general accounting experience, including at least 4 years of payroll accounting experience.
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or CPA equivalent certification strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting annual statutory audits and collaborating with local and remote teams across time zones.
- Hands-on experience with cloud-based accounting systems.
- Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
- Experience partnering with local accounting teams to file statutory accounts.
- Flexibility to support teams across different geographic areas, including US-based accounting teams.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with equity compensation accounting, including RSUs, stock options, and ESPP.
- Exposure to global payroll jurisdictions, particularly the Netherlands, Brazil, France, Germany, and India.
- Hands-on experience or strong interest in automation and AI adoption in payroll or accounting operations.
