Software Development Engineer III — Commerce & Loyalty

Build high-performance, accessible member-facing commerce and loyalty experiences using React and Next.js. The role requires 4+ years of web application development, TypeScript expertise, cloud-native experience, and strong testing and collaboration practices.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain the Shop member experience with Next.js and React.
  • Develop responsive, accessible, high-performance interfaces for offer discovery, cashback, and rewards.
  • Integrate frontend systems with backend REST and GraphQL services and internal identity systems.
  • Contribute to and reuse shared design systems and component libraries.
  • Optimize frontend performance and reliability, including Core Web Vitals and rendering strategies, during peak traffic.
  • Use AI tooling across implementation, testing, and code review while validating its output.
  • Uphold the security and privacy of member data on the client.
  • Collaborate with Product, Design, Application, QE, API, and Infrastructure teams to deliver features end to end.
  • Write well-tested code with automated tests and observability instrumentation.
  • Participate in system design discussions, code reviews, and technical documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 4+ years of experience building web applications, with strong frontend expertise in React and Next.js.
  • Proficiency with TypeScript and modern frontend tooling.
  • Fluency with AI coding tools such as Claude Code, Cursor, or Copilot, including the ability to validate generated output.
  • Experience delivering features end to end with automated test coverage, observability, monitoring, and documentation.
  • Experience in containerized, cloud-based, infrastructure-as-code environments.
  • Exposure to Google Cloud, Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad.
  • Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly and collaborate effectively.

Nice-to-Haves

  • Production experience building and consuming REST or GraphQL APIs.
  • High-traffic consumer web performance optimization, including Core Web Vitals, SSR/ISR, and caching.
  • Experience with design systems and component libraries.
  • Familiarity with WCAG and inclusive UI development.
  • Experience in e-commerce, marketplaces, offers or affiliate platforms, loyalty, or payments.
  • Backend familiarity for full-stack contributions.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and cloud-native patterns.

Compensation

  • U.S. base salary range: $139,725–$160,367.
  • Mountain View, California base salary range: $172,528–$192,904.
  • Compensation excludes bonus, equity, and benefits.
  • Benefits include medical, dental, vision, HSA/FSA, commuter benefits, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match, parental leave, paid time off, holidays, and learning and development benefits.
