Manager I, Engineering - Security Libraries

Leads a team of library engineers building and operating security integrations across multiple languages and proxy platforms. The role combines people management, product and roadmap ownership, technical contribution, and cross-functional delivery for runtime security products.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, grow, and develop a team of roughly 4–8 library engineers through coaching, direct feedback, and empowerment of senior individual contributors.
  • Own team delivery and productivity, including planning, milestones, reviews, and the on-call rotation.
  • Set product direction with Product Management across App & API Protection, Workload Protection, and Code Security.
  • Apply strong technical judgment, contribute code where it matters most, and maintain quality and architecture.
  • Build relationships and drive alignment across language teams and product, backend, and frontend partners.
  • Shape team identity and culture and own accountability when problems occur.

Requirements

  • Experience managing a team of engineers, setting direction with Product Managers, owning a backlog, and running delivery.
  • Senior software engineering background with strong technical judgment.
  • Track record of developing people through coaching, direct feedback, and career support.
  • Strong cross-team communication and stakeholder-alignment skills.
  • Experience building libraries, SDKs, developer tooling, or systems/runtime software.
  • Pragmatic product-engineering experience, including technical trade-off decisions based on customer impact.

Nice to Have

  • Application security experience, including WAF, RASP, IAST, or SCA, or adjacent observability/APM experience.
  • Hands-on experience with .NET, Java, Go, Node.js, Python, Ruby, or PHP, or open-source stewardship.
  • Experience leading distributed or multilingual teams across many stakeholders.
