Clinical Social Worker

Provides virtual psychosocial assessment, counseling, crisis intervention, resource linkage, and care coordination for people with cancer and their families. Requires a CSWE-accredited master’s degree, an active social work license, and preferably three to five years of healthcare social work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychosocial assessments for patients and families affected by cancer.
  • Provide counseling and therapeutic interventions for anxiety, depression, grief, adjustment, coping, relationship and role changes, custody planning, caregiver demands, advance care planning, and spiritual or existential distress.
  • Assess and address financial toxicity and behavioral health needs.
  • Provide crisis intervention during behavioral health crises, prognosis changes, and end-of-life decisions.
  • Identify and connect patients and families with community resources.
  • Coordinate care with oncologists, behavioral health providers, nurses, and other specialists.
  • Advocate with insurers, healthcare providers, and agencies to help patients access treatment and support services.
  • Lead cancer patient and family support groups and provide education on cancer-related topics.
  • Interact with members virtually by telephone, video, text, and the company’s virtual care platform.
  • Maintain organized communications and documentation while adapting to an evolving care model.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Social Work from a Council on Social Work Education (CSWE)-accredited program.
  • Valid, current master’s-level license in the state of practice, such as LISW or LCSW.
  • Unrestricted licensure and willingness to obtain additional state licenses as needed.
  • Three to five years of experience as a social worker in a healthcare setting preferred.
  • Strong listening, communication, organization, adaptability, and crisis-intervention skills.
  • Comfort learning and using video chat, Google Suite, Slack, electronic health records, and other technologies.

Nice-to-haves

  • Oncology, palliative care, serious illness care, or hospice experience.
  • OSW-C or APHSW-C certification.
  • Experience working at a startup or technology-focused company.

Compensation

  • Base salary: $92,000 annually.
  • Total compensation may also include equity, benefits, and other opportunities.
