Own the strategy, roadmap, and global expansion of Terminal’s first-party and third-party payment hardware portfolio. The role requires 5+ years of product management experience, hardware product delivery expertise, and strong cross-functional leadership across engineering, manufacturing, partners, and operations.

About the job

Responsibilities

  • Set and execute a multi-year strategy and roadmap for Terminal hardware, including Stripe-built devices, third-party devices, accessories, and emerging form factors.
  • Determine where to build, partner, or expand the hardware portfolio based on customer needs, competitive gaps, and global opportunities.
  • Define product requirements, user journeys, and acceptance criteria for hardware products from concept through validation, launch, and post-launch iteration.
  • Partner with hardware, firmware, software, and quality engineering teams to deliver high-quality device experiences.
  • Work with OEM, ODM, and technology partners to evaluate capabilities, define roadmaps, resolve technical issues, and deliver hardware.
  • Lead global expansion of third-party hardware, including availability, local payment methods, certifications, distribution, pricing, and launch readiness.
  • Evaluate hardware providers and build business cases for new device categories, accessories, connectivity, and specialized use cases.
  • Engage users, sales teams, and partners to understand in-person payment workflows and improve device experiences.
  • Establish success metrics using customer feedback, adoption, reliability, support signals, and financial performance.
  • Communicate strategy, priorities, risks, and trade-offs to cross-functional partners and leadership; travel occasionally to partner sites and offices, including APAC.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product management experience or equivalent experience leading complex technology products.
  • Demonstrated success shipping physical hardware, connected devices, embedded products, payment devices, consumer electronics, or similarly complex products from concept through launch.
  • Experience defining product strategy, roadmaps, requirements, prioritization, and launch plans for technical products.
  • Experience partnering with hardware, firmware, and software engineering teams and participating credibly in technical product and architecture discussions.
  • Strong judgment balancing customer experience, technical feasibility, reliability, quality, cost, supply, and launch timing.
  • Experience with hardware product development and manufacturing processes, including prototyping, validation, production readiness, and sustaining lifecycle management.
  • Experience working with vendors, manufacturers, OEMs, ODMs, or strategic technology partners.
  • Customer-focused and analytical approach to product development, cross-functional leadership, alignment, and outcome measurement.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in payments, commerce platforms, point-of-sale systems, or in-person payments.
  • Experience managing portfolios containing first-party and third-party products.
  • Experience with sourcing, supply-chain risk, device pricing, unit economics, and global distribution.
  • Experience with payment-device certifications, local payment methods, accessibility requirements, connectivity, or regulated hardware environments.
  • Experience launching products internationally.
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, computer science, or a related field.
