Responsibilities
- Lead and execute risk-based internal audits and contribute to a comprehensive internal audit strategy covering emerging risks, management priorities, and regulatory obligations.
- Evaluate and test governance, risk management, internal controls, compliance, financial reporting, and operational processes.
- Present independent audit reports to the UK Board, Audit Committee, and senior leadership.
- Engage with business partners and regulators, including the FCA and CBI, and prepare audit evidence and findings.
- Communicate complex technical and regulatory risks clearly to senior stakeholders.
- Partner with engineering, product, treasury, legal, compliance, and operations teams to develop remediation plans and track corrective actions through verified closure.
- Research applicable regulatory requirements, including GAAP, IFRS, PSD2, EMD2, and EBA standards.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in internal auditing, risk management, or compliance, preferably in banking or financial services.
- Expertise auditing financial controls, operations, and regulatory compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Experience with risk-based audit planning, execution, and reporting across governance, compliance, financial reporting, and operational controls.
- Professional certification such as CIA, CPA, CAMS, or CRCM, or active pursuit of one.
- Strong analytical skills and experience using data analytics and continuous monitoring tools.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presenting complex issues to senior stakeholders.
- Ability to lead cross-functional remediation efforts and track corrective actions to closure.
- High integrity, independence, and professional skepticism.
Nice-to-haves
- Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, MBA, or a related advanced field.
- Experience in a regulated financial institution or a network with complex relationships among network partners.
- Experience with audit management software, automation platforms, and advanced data analytics.
- Track record of building continuous audit or monitoring programs.
