Credit Risk Operations Associate

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate merchants ranging from venture-backed startups to established institutions by reviewing business models and financial statements.
  • Manage Stripe’s portfolio by developing an understanding of credit risk across industries, geographies, and operating models.
  • Identify risks in complex business models and enforce appropriate loss-mitigation actions.
  • Use analytics to optimize portfolio risk strategies.
  • Identify and report risk factors and trends to the wider risk team.
  • Identify gaps in systems, policies, and strategies; recommend enhancements and process improvements.
  • Partner with global operations specialists and business process owners to run critical workflows.
  • Work collaboratively across teams and with external partners in a fast-moving, in-office environment.
  • Work no more than one weekend day per month, with a weekday off the following week; shifts run from morning through early evening.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience with commercial credit underwriting, financial risk modeling, and cash-flow forecasting.
  • Ability to translate business and financial data into a clear narrative describing potential credit risks.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience evaluating financial statements and business models across industries.
  • Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, prioritization, and process-orientation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across teams and with external partners.

Nice-to-haves

  • Degree or diploma in Finance or Accounting.
  • Experience mitigating credit risk in payments, e-commerce, or fintech.
