Responsibilities
- Learn deeply about Fivetran to focus development on practical and relevant system improvements.
- Contribute to roadmap development and planning.
- Collaborate with a small core team and broader stakeholders.
- Work across the project lifecycle, including requirements, design, prototyping, implementation, review, release, and monitoring.
- Review and approve pull requests.
- Take ownership of the product and apply engineering skills to improve it.
Requirements
- Experience working carefully within a high-impact software team, including making decisions with cascading implications and measuring system performance before implementation.
- Ability to collect diverse input, build consensus, make decisive choices, and iterate on systems in production.
- Experience and productivity with modern and legacy software development environments.
- Ability to design and code effective, intuitive, easy-to-operate, and maintainable systems.
- Experience with cloud services, network protocols, serialization, and relational databases.
- Knowledge of complex data structures, object orientation, exceptions, and memory management techniques.
- Familiarity with C, Python, relational databases, build tooling, version control, and development environments across macOS, Linux, Unix, and Windows.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with data replication and ETL/ELT tools.
- Experience with cloud and software-defined infrastructure tools, such as AWS CloudFormation, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Familiarity with API technologies and analytics.
- Knowledge of DBMS internals.
- Familiarity with encoding and network communication internals.
- Familiarity with system-level programming, including process management, memory management, and inter-process communication.
